I'v Got to say I loved this book but Brant was a bit of a twat to Darcy. Darcy had loved brant since she was a child and brant never show interest till had to protect her in Cade's story. Some of the stuff brant came out with for the reasons he can't love Darcy I thought were really stupid but the story so good u kind of go with flow. Great action and maya mystery. Great HEA.

See my previous comments on the previous macKenzie Brothers books/novellas.

Liliana Hart writes engaging mystery/suspense plots but her male characters in particular are sooo formulaic, as is the sex (and please don't ask how frequent episodes sexual gymnastics in various places and positions and kinks can be formulaic but it is), and to a certain extent the heroines - all of whom seem to start as strong, intelligent women and end up sappy.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the mystery/suspense element I just wish she'd tone down the rest and make her Alpholes more likeable ie men!

I liked this story a great deal better than Cade, simply because the book was better balanced. Suspense was threaded through the entire story, the author created a better backstory, and the relationship was based on something other than sexual attraction.

It's a fast read, I think it took me an hour to finish it, but I did skim a few sex scenes which seemed to have no other purpose than to appeal to a certain group of readers or pad the final word count because they failed to move the story forward.

An enjoyable enough read, but not one that will be going on my re-read pile.
