I am not normally a fan of portal fantasy but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed this. Fairly simple premise. Young woman, who is dying of cancer, has the chance to be transported into a novel and be saved.

Hard to tell if she actually liked the book series or hated it, to be honest. She seems to have made excuses not to read it or not pay attention when it was read to her. It’s really unclear how she actually feels about these books. Sometimes it seems like she doesn’t know enough to navigate in this world and other times she seems to have all the required information.

Regardless, she wakes up as the villain and has to figure out a way to survive. The world is a little confusing and sometimes it seems like we have a few too many characters around. Still, it works and it isn’t overly complicated.

Can’t say too much without giving away keys parts of the plot. It’s all rather interesting the ending really works. I did not know that this was the beginning of the series. So, just be aware of that.
