This is such a hard one to rate. The idea of this book is amazing and definitely what made me want to read it. But the execution was far from what I expected. Obviously for a fantasy book you need world building, but the world building here was almost too much to the point it was overwhelming and confusing. I loved going into the story, but…at some point we need to uncomplicate it so we can actually enjoy it. It felt like we ran through several different points of views in the span of a single page that I wasn’t always sure what was happening. It was also very slow moving until the end, so it felt like a chore to pick this up and read it. I did, however, love the ending, so I’m debating if I pick up book two or not. I’m not sure if I liked this book or not, but the premise of the story is fantastic

It’s a lot of fun but adds a layer of complexity to reading that I’m not in the mood for right now. Another time!

Interesting plot (girl dying of cancer makes a deal that transports her into her favorite book series -that she honestly hasn't read closely at all due to being sick i suppose- in the role of a villainess). The writing style was a bit choppy so it took me longer to get through than usual. But will read the next book in the series.
