I picked up this audiobook on a whim, but surprisingly enjoyed it. I did find the timeline switching a bit confusing, but overall, I liked the first half of the book. The second half was...weird. I don't understand how he basically got kidnapped. Also I really wish I had never looked up what sounding was lol. It was a bit disjointed, but I found the writing compelling. Also, just real weird.
Graphic: Sexual violence and Sexual content
Moderate: Death of parent, Mental illness, Suicide attempt, Torture, and Toxic relationship

My Year Abroad follows Tiller, a college student during his time abroad with a local entrepreneur and after he has returned when he is living with a woman named Val and her son, Victor. I think people should give this book a try, the descriptions of food are amazing. For me it was a little too long and then felt rushed to wrap up at the end.
Graphic: Confinement, Death, Excrement, Murder, Sexual assault, Suicidal thoughts, Suicide attempt, Terminal illness, Toxic relationship, Violence, and Vomit
