Interesting read, a bit predictable.

Darker than usual. Took me until almost the end to figure it out, and it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger with the main characters (of course) so on I go with my Gaslight Mystery binge....

I'm so glad Thompson didn't try to tie this book's standalone mystery to the larger mystery of Thomas Brandt. It's maddening with authors force all plots to lead to the same end point. Enjoyable.

I thought the setting for this book was quite interesting, but the plot itself was a bit thin. Quite a bit of focus was put on the main characters and their backstory, but the actual mystery suffered because of it. However, I do like the setting enough that I'll probably check out at least one more from the series.
