These are my breezy summer reading books. I liked this one, but as someone who works in academia, I find the thought that someone can carry on a whole other life when teaching full time a bit preposterous. Maisie at least spends time grading and doing things that are required by teachers. But she also dashes off for long weekends every weekend to work her other job. It was fine, but not the best in the series.

Grade: B+

Good entry in the series. I did question whether Maisie would have been so aware of the coming threat. This premise was not completely unbelievable, so I did not allow it to destroy my enjoyment of the book.

Definitely one of my favourites in the series so far!

Enjoyable, but also a bit bland with bigger plot holes than I'm used to seeing from Winspear. (Why was Maisie spending all her time on something not her assignment while the thing that was her assignment went ignored?)

3.5 stars. Another enjoyable Maisie Dobbs story.

Another wonderful book, beautifully written.
Though as they are nearing WWII, I am disturbed by the resemblance to current events...

I liked this one because of the overlapping storylines, plus Maisie took on more than just the average client, which gave it a different feel.
