I so love the Maisie Dobbs series, and this one is no exception. I was a little disappointed by the scope of the case that Maisie ended up solving in this book. Perhaps I was hoping for something grander because of the new addition of the Nazi element...

I don't know what it is about Maisie Dobbs, but I love her! Interesting to read this in the time between the two wars. Excellent.
The new prospects in Maisie's professional and personal life are a welcome change to this series. I've always appreciated that the reader feels in the time of the book even with the characters sometimes taking a perspective of foreshadowing political events to come. There's a lot of thoughtful dialogue in this Maisie Dobbs mystery about the costs of war to people and throughout Europe that gave rise to WWII that can also feel eerily similar to the political angst of the present.
Audiobook. Maisie is always entertaining for me. Always another snippet of life and also another faucet of WWI.
These books are getting better. Less woo-woo psychology stuff and more plot :)
