“I'd three times sooner go to war than suffer childbirth once.”

This from a woman who is about to willingly kill her own children. I thought I would not like it - I thought it indigestible that a woman would kill her innocent children just to revenge on her cheating husband, but Euripides' Medea proved me wrong.

First thing one notices is the feminist nature of the book(It is way ahead of its time in this regard.):

“Of all creatures that can feel and think,
we women are the worst treated things alive”

Then there is all the drama - as Medea struggles between her need for revenge and her love for the children:

“I know indeed what evil I intend to do, but stronger than all my afterthoughts is my fury, fury that brings upon mortals the greatest evils.”

P.S. To me Jason is no longer a hero.
