2.75 Stars (for the cover mainly.)

The biggest disappointment of the year, I was so happy when I got this book but then it turned out to be really boring with really nothing exceptional.

It's inspired, let's say by a mix of Jane Eyre+Rebecca+Crimson Peak (without the incest part, don't worry!), then add to this some Ghosts+Magic kind of mixture that did not work well here.

I don't want to spoil the story by enumerating all the things that I didn't like or saw them as a nonsense in this story. I didn't like the characters, the plot, the ending, the concept but I loved the writing style even if the author did too much in the last chapters, "chapter 0" what was that really? I didn't felt impressed at all and it could have been so simpler, why all that gibberish?

I'm mad and sad that I didn't like it, really I was hoping for something that it will end up to be a favorite since I've seen the cover yet I was so happy when it was over. I respect the author's work of 5 years on this book and I hope to read something different from her that I will enjoy in the future.

If a 4.5 were possible, that would be where it firmly sits. I enjoyed this immensely.

Not going to rate this book as I dont know what I would rate it as. I pushed off reading this book for so long expecting to be terrified by it. I was in fact, not terrified. The story was slow, felt like it took forever even if I finished it in three days. There was something missing. In all fairness I skimmed the last 100 pages to finish the book, but really I don't think I missed anything. I think the most interesting/exciting thing was when they had several unexpected "Human" guests arrive at their door unannounced.
