2022 September Grab Bag Reading Challenge
Prompt: read a book in a continuing series or start a new one

This was so bad but so, so funny. This author speedran this story to the point where there was no point in trying to solve the crime yourself. Not only that, but this author also seemed to think that transitional scenes or sentences were for the weak because readers jump from scene to scene, sentence to sentence with very little effort put into properly transitioning from one to the other. The was such a ridiculous mystery that I can't even be mad at it, though I wouldn't say I recommend it. Read it if you want, but you're not missing much.

I seriously do not understand how this has any 5 star reviews, even if you were just looking for a throwaway palette cleanser, as I was.

The writing is so awkward, and the dialogue didn’t mirror how people actually talk. I thought I could read through it since it is so short but stopped after three chapters and a comment about another female character wearing white t-shirts instead of dresses.

It was free during a Stuff Your Kindle day and still wasn’t worth the 15 minutes I spent on it.

1. Main character thinks too high of herself and is very judgmental. Some hint of women hate here and there.
2. Progression of the uncovering the murderer was mostly the main character putting two and two together without that much evidence and miraculously getting it right. There was no twists at all.

That being said, this is my first cozy mystery so maybe I am just not used to these kinds of execution of plot and mystery?

I read this book to see how the free books are on Apple’s Book app… this was like a hallmark series with scooby doo vibes lol. It was a cute short who done it story.

Gostei.

MC decides to investigate for the dumbest reason, gets people to info dump when they would never do so irl, and makes incredibly rude judgements about other women. The villain of the story when unmasked gives the world's longest explanation of why they committed the crime. It was comically long winded.  No one in this book was very likeable, and nothing about it would make me want to continue the series.

I listened to the audiobook and honestly hated the narrator! The book itself wasn’t great either. A lot of it is just the MC telling you what is happening. Luckily it was a quick listen but I don’t think I’ll continue the series. The MC is also pretty judgmental and jumps to conclusions very quickly. I also felt the story just went too fast and doesn’t leave room for the rider to try and figure out who did it or put together clues.
