3.72 AVERAGE

Maybe a 3.5? I wasn't as caught up in the story as I would have liked to have been and a lot of the magic of this alternative world was lost on me. The premise is good and I think young readers will enjoy it, especially boys looking for an "adventure" novel.

3.5 stars.
Really good. Moved fast, was intriguing. Seemed timeless.

Very similar to Airborn, but not quite as good. Still enjoyed it though. Love Kenneth Oppel.

This would be four stars except I couldn't really bring myself to care about a rich dead guy who wants to be buried with his treasures. Otherwise, it's a great adventure. Read my review at Gator Book Chomp.

What a grand story of adventure and peril mixing reality with a little magic and mysticism. The story of this young boy traveling by train, working with the cir us performers and hoping to avoid murder is interesting and exciting and a fun escape.

3.5. Really good. I want to buy it to draw some of the things out.

*4.0*

Do you ever finish a book and just smile. Because, I just did.

I really, really enjoyed reading this. The writing was beautiful, having already read a novel by Kenneth Oppel I expected it to be just that. The characters came to life and by the end of the story I thoroughly loved them and the people they were.

The setting was altogether interesting. The fact that is was set on a train, the whole thing reminded me of the movie, Snowpericer. WHICH IS NOT A BAD THING.

And the plot was immersive and gripping. The last 30 or so pages had my heart racing.

It did take me a while to read the book due to the fact that I felt in the beginning some of the scenes were a bit slow, but other then that, all good.

So good, guys.

A magical book which dealt with some interesting topics considering it’s a children’s book.

History, fantasy, adventure--this book has it all. Outstanding book.

Loved this so much. So heartwarming and fun!
