Although it felt a little slow in the beginning, the pace quickened and everything got better as the book went on. It's meant to be a feelgood novel, but for me the sad bits sort of took over, so I felt like it was more of a dramatic novel instead. The two timelines worked really well together, and I thought the plot was handled well. I was frustrated at times, and there were a few nitpicks I had to do with formatting of the sentences or tiny other details, but nothing major.
Overall, I did enjoy the read. The twist later hit me and affected me quite a bit - the reason for my frustration, since I pretty much only expected a light-hearted read. To put it this way, it's no wonder Frida has begun writing crime novels. I can see it seeping through the pages in this, and it only made it better (though again, the drama wasn't exactly what I was expecting or looking for :p).

Ehkä ei ollut vaan sopiva hetki lukea tätä, mutta ei uponnut nyt ollenkaan. Oikeastaan kaikki hahmot olivat jollain tapaa raskaita ja päähenkilöt jopa ihan todella ärsyttäviä. Yleensä tykkään kaikenlaisesta draamasta, mutta tässä tuntui erikoisen lopullisilta kohtuullisen pienet asiat.
Välillä pisti silmään pieniä, mutta tosi erikoisia ja häiritseviä asioita, kuten useamman kerran mainittu englannin "ymmärtämättömyys", joka tuntui teennäiseltä (ei sillä, etteikö ole ihmisiä, jotka ei englantia ymmärrä hyvin, mutta silti). Myös päähenkilön päälleliimattu täystietämättömyys kirjoista jne.
Tykkäsin itse enemmän Lucy Diamondin Rantakahvilasta, joka on sääli, koska en tykkää erityisesti ruokajutuista vaan nimenomaan tämä kirjakauppa Lontoossa olis ollut täydellinen asetelma, jos kirja olisi muuten toiminut.
Toisen aikakauden rinnakkaisjuoni oli myös todella ennalta-arvattava, vaikka sillä ei tällaisissa hyvänmielenkirjoissa olekaan varsinaisesti mitään merkitystä. Mutta se lisäsi vain oman lukukokemukseni tympeyttä.
Suosittelisin tätä kyllä silti muille, jos kiinnostaa eikä haittaa vähän pidempi kevyt kesälukeminen.
