this felt just like any ordinary fantasy novel, girl lives in poverty, girl goes to place of immense wealth, girl discovers something about herself, girl defeats villain. The only person I liked was liam, because roan had no personality.

I love the premise of this duology: it's In Time meets Caraval. Sometimes the plot felt a little raw and the characterisation underdeveloped, but the world is engaging and drew me in. I'm keen to continue with Evermore.
