Incredible amount of info on this time! I will be turning back to this often! Plus, I now want to check out Trollope.

More like 3.5.

Very interesting - a good starting point for people looking to learn more about the Regency period (although it does go beyond that, per the title). It doesn't delve too deeply into any one topic, but rather provides an overview of just about every facet of daily life you might have wondered about.

Veered between mildly entertaining and mildly tedious, and always repetitive. Probably intended to be read in useful chunks rather than straight through.

Delightful!

A bit heavy in political and religious explanation, though I suppose necessary for the understanding of certain novels. Would have loved more focus on the personal/social aspects of the century. Also perpetuates the stereotype of corsets as horrible oppressive womenswear that the can't breathe in

A ton of well researched info in here. Normally I love dry historical facts but this one pushes it. A must read if 19th century English lit is something you enjoy.
