the beginning was hard to get through and it took me months to read but the last part of the book was really good

Just a fun hiking tale of rekindling friendships (and, of course, much more)! I liked Bennett's last release, and this one has definitely got me hooked. I'll be looking forward to her next releases as I continue to savor this one!

This book was pretty much exactly what I expected. It was simply written, engaging enough to read but simple enough to not feel invested in. The characters were flat, plot was predictable, overall standard and average. I like the California setting and the camping adventures.

rep: character with 2 moms
trigger warnings: adultery

I'm about to flip a table over how damn cute this was! I'll be honest, I am a bit caught between whether to rate this a 4 or a 5. If I were the sort of person who believed in giving things half-stars, this would be a 4 and ½ but because I am not the sort of person who does that, I am going to stick it with a 5 for now because of the smiles this book caused me to smile.

The only reason I felt inclined to dock points was just because of how overly juvenile some of the language was. I fully understand this is a YA book, but by the 10th time Zorie says, "For the love of Pete," it gets a bit grating.

With that out of the way, though, this was an incredibly fun little adventure. I really loved Alex, Approximately when I read it in 2018, so when I went looking for breezy romances to read on the page instead of as an audiobook, which is what has become my usual, Bennett's work immediately came to mind and I was absolutely not disappointed!

This was really a treat. The drama was perfectly melodramatic, the romance was adorable and honestly a bit touching, and the way secrets were revealed was extremely enjoyable and made for a fun read. The characters were very well developed. Even those with smaller parts like Reagan and Brett were interesting even despite how utterly infuriating they were.

All in all, this is absolutely another victory for Jenn Bennett and I'll be looking forward to reading Chasing Lucky soon and maybe even giving Serious Moonlight a second chance sometime!

Messed up and wrong that this book had a love interest hand crafted to appeal to me personally and yet was so lackluster I couldn't finish it. Me and YA contemporary romance may never get along it seems. Lennon, call me tho, I'm free this Thursday.
