What a delightful read! It was fun, the characters were fantastic, the plot was interesting, and I love the witty dialogue. I enjoyed this book and definitely plan on continuing the series!

This was recommended to be by one of my middle schoolers who LOVES the series and can quote entire paragraphs!!

Skulduggery Pleasant follows a young girl named Stephanie after the death of her uncle. In his will, her uncle leaves her his entire fortune and property. At the reading of the will, Stephanie notices an odd looking man with a hat, sunglasses, and scarf on (that he does not take off even inside), and she notes that it is strange. After she inherits her uncle's house, she visits and that is where the madness starts. She finds out that there is magic in the world, and the man at the reading of her uncle's will is actually a living skeleton named Skulduggery Pleasant, and he is a magical detective.

One of the best things about this book is the quippy dialogue between Stephanie and Skulduggery (and some other cast of characters). Lots of jokes & very humorous for middle school readers!

Reading for Harry as apparently it was an integral part of his childhood (I will be making him read ACOTAR or ToG as a swap, he just doesn't know that yet).

Anyways, it was decent. It's very funny and I like that the main girl is very cool but realistic, especially as she's written by a man. I look forward to the other like.... million books in this series.

I’m being so serious when I say that these books still have the exact hold on me as they did when I was twelve, and everyone who hasn’t lived through the glorious experience of Skulduggery Pleasant at least once is actually missing out.

I read this for the first time back in junior high school. I'm now 28 and devoured this book with absolute delight. What an awesome blast from the past!

Skulduggery reminds me so much of David Tennant's portrayal of the Tenth Doctor, mixed with a hint of family-friendly Deadpool. I'm very much looking forward to the rest of the series.

i’d forgotten how much i loved this series when i was seven, and onwards and i hadn’t reread the first book for about six years or so and yeah. it’s still good. it’s funny, witty, charming, fast paced, and i am still a bit in love with tanith low.
