“Sharp Objects meets Stranger Things” is a fitting description. Weird. Scary. Creepy. Unsettling. This book will not be to everyone’s liking, but if you are a fan of eerie psychological thrillers with sci-fi elements you should give this one definitely a try.

I got this arc in exchange for an honest review

The premise and the cover, definitely draw you in. It took me awhile to get through this one, I think once you hit 60% it picks up and moves fairly quick.

There was a lot to unpack in this; supernatural elements, psychedelic trips, obsessive stalking, and mental illness to boot. All rolled up into one story that sort of disconnects at times. It felt fragmented and that we weren't getting the whole picture, which may have been the whole idea, however the ending was not at all what I thought we were leading up to. A bit disappointed with it.

Thank you to Harper Collins, UK; One More Chapter and NetGalley for the advanced review copy.

I received an ARC of She Never Left by CM Harris from Netgalley and I am leaving this review on my own.

Well. This was a rather interesting premise but was so convoluted and hard to follow by the end I just wanted it to be over. I'm still kind of confused with the ending.

This book left me confused. I felt it was more sci-fi than thriller, and at times it felt that it doesn't really fit into the thriller genre. I didn't feel any connection or sympathy for any of the characters, and I think this is one reason I struggled with this book. While it was weird & left me with so many questions, I must say that the writing itself was beautiful - the author was so descriptive that The Thicket really came to life for me.

Thanks to HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter & NetGalley for the DRC in exchange for an honest review.

T his story started out promising but as it went on I had a hard time keeping with it. It is a dual timeline story about a woman who goes back to her small hometown for a class reunion. The flashbacks are when she was in school. The Thicket plays a primary role in the story. It is a forest full of mushrooms that the characters use as drugs. I think this is where the story lost me. Between the mushroom trips and the mystery character I struggled to keep up with the story.

A thriller with an interesting paranormal twist, it kept me hooked and guessing.
There's plenty going on, it's atmospheric and gripping. I loved the eery descriptions of the wood and the unusual mix of different genre.
The dual timeline and POVs added layers to the story.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
