Such a strong premise, but the overall effect couldn't live up to it.

More like 3.5 stars. Felt like a mix of Christmas Carol and Alice in Wonderland. Interesting concept. Trigger warning (not a spoiler, within first 30 pages of book) of severe depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts.

Probably 3.5 stars for me. I enjoyed the second half more than the first.
