Dark and chilling take on Sabrina the teenage witch from the adorable teen we knew. I was excited about this take on Sabrina's story but found it a bit lacking and I'm not a fan of the art. Might still read #2 and see if my feelings change.

New vs Old

Reading this darker version of Sabrina is definitely different from the original comics but also interesting enough that I actually kinda like it. I also checked out the Netflix show of this version of Sabrina. Without saying any spoilers, I had some disappointments from the show that makes the comics and the show different but also similar to each other. My advice to anyone who are huge fans of the original to go into this version of Sabrina with a clean slate, separating the two versions from each other, otherwise you'll be disappointed for not having your nostalgia fulfilled.

4 STARS!!!

I'd never read the original Sabrina comics but I was a huge fan of the TV series in the 90s and when I read there was a horror-ish graphic novel remix of Sabrina I jumped at it and downloaded #1. I loved how dark and creepy it was and I think this would actually make a really awesome TV rendition of Sabrina, all dark and scary but still full of teen drama and angst. I look forward to reading on in this series. :)

The art is a little dodgy in that characters look completely different from one page to another but you can easily ignore it due to the great story line it starts.

Read this one for a Copy-cat Challenge in one of my groups. Dear Lords, no, just no. The story was OK-ish, very dark. I am giant fan of the old series, so it was quite a change to see a dark Sabrina. With tons of darkness, creepy things, aunties who are mean, a creepy Salem.
I didn't like the characters that much, but the worst is the art. Heavens. Sabrina is supposedly 14? Given she was born in 1950, and when she meets Harvey it is 1964. But she looks like she is in her twenties. And Harvey looks like he is 30. Same goes for several other characters. Plus that ending part with the succubus, well my stomach just went upside down and back again. I definitely will not be reading this series further.

I started to read this because I just finished the TV series Netflix made.
I like how it differs.
