Read this with my students today. I really love the metaphor and liked thinking of ways my younger selves influence me.

i can remember nearly every line of this three-page short story and specifically i can remember the voice of my fourth grade teacher reading this to the class eight years ago and every time i've read it since it has hit the exact same.

This short-story is the most inspiring and mood lifting story I've read in a while. It makes you feel better about yourself, even if it's just a little bit. It touches the eleven year old in yourselve that still believes in small words.

I’ve been so sick over growing up lately- this captured that particular feeling perfectly. I wonder how Rachel would feel at 23.. :(

And maybe one day when you're all grown up maybe you will need to cry like if you're three, and that's okay. That's what I tell Mama when she's sad and needs to cry. Maybe she's feeling three.

I wish I wasn't eleven, because all the years inside of me ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two and one the back of my eyes...
And I wish weren't so many years inside of me...
