This book is going to take me forever to read...but I love it. It's absolutely captivating. Definitely a read-in-progress.

Great and entertaining history. Recommend. Especially first two books and last three.

In this book the "Father of History" tells the story of the Greco-Persian Wars, from Cyrus to Darius to Xerxes while also giving the reader a view of the world as Herodotus knew it, which at times can be quite disturbing or hilarious depending on your point of view. As you move through the book you get used to the name dropping, if you want to know exactly what's going on at all times be sure to keep a map of the ancient world at hand!

Herodotus is an entertaining storyteller but let's be real a lot of it is inaccurate and racist.
