One of the more enjoyable plots/stories for this one. Traveling around Russia. Enjoyable short read.

The books aren’t bad they just are pretty much the exact same thing book after book. It’s for people much younger than I so I can understand it being better for the intended group so I gave it a 4.

Book five in the series and you guessed it - author number five as well. This one was similar in structural design as the others with more action and adventure than you can poke the proverbial stick at but it was all pretty soulless and dreary stuff. Not much to see here, move along to another place in the book shelf.

this strikes me as one of the weaker books in the series, which is a shame because i find russia/russian history terribly fascinating. yet, the book felt very rushed and as if maybe scholastic gave carman a checklist saying - "here, be sure you include all of this stuff in no. 5" and by the time that was all written, he was tired and didn't bother trying to tell a bigger/better story, or even write that checklist in a compelling and convincing manner. meh.
