Personally not my taste and I didn't really take much away from it. It's not a bad book and the writing style was easy to read, but I can't rate this any higher than a 3. It does make me curious about this author's other works, so I'm glad I had a taste of it.

I've never read anything by Burroughs before, but I could instantly recognise the Kerouac-esque juvenile writing paired with the grotesqueness of Bukowski. Basically, white American male of a certain era.

"I always say people have more fun than anybody."

It does have a certain charm, designed to shock and entertain. I'd like to read more of Burroughs after this and some of the stories were good, others I just didn't get it, and found myself bored.

Some of these stories I found fascinating, but I found it quite hard to get on with his writing style; I am not sure if it just my usual difficulty with short stories, but I found myself switching off and having to reread the passages. I definitely enjoyed some more than others!
