Did not care for the newest narrator/main character in the series.
The series went really down hill after the first book and I don't like the way the story is continued. I don't like the jumo in time between the books and again I feel like the part I would actually enjoy reading is just left out. After reading some reviews for this novel I decided to quit this series. The ending if the second book is acceptable I guess.
At first, I was disappointed by the time jump. I thought the end of book two promised a lot, and I thought the time skip would also skip past that, but it didn’t.
I really enjoyed seeing how Hester and Tom changed, even if it wasn’t always for the better. Also, Wren was an interesting foil to Hester and Tom’s initial adventures in the first two books.
As usual, I’m amazed by the world building and plot weaving so certain details and characters come together in just the right ways.

Literally could not care less about Wren. This series should have been a duology, there was no need to pick up where book 2 left off, let alone this many years later.
I adored the first two books but I hate watching Tom and Hester’s relationship crumble because Philip decided Hester was a merciless killer who apparently doesn’t get a satisfying character arc??? And Tom is now a bumbling sit-com dad??? Yeah ok sure.

Quite disappointed with Hester's mental health, but quite pleased with progressing.
This was a solid 4.5 read! I enjoyed it more than the previous book, which surprised me. The story has jumped forward 16 years and despite being uncertain about Hester and Tom having a child, it actually worked for me!
Wren did start out a bit annoying with her TSTL decisions. It made sense though, given that she has grown up in the one place and never experienced the outside world except through her parents stories. She does get some character growth following her kidnapping, becoming less naive and subsequently, less frustrating. In the end, I quite liked her.
Tom is about the same as he's always been, only older and with a heart condition. He loves Wren unconditionally.
The same, unfortunately, cannot be said of Hester. Sixteen years living a stationary life has made her bored, angry (that is, angrier than usual) and insecure. Hester has become ugly, inside and out. Which is a shame, because I really, really want to like her. And I guess I still do, because every time I find myself hating her, I begin to feel sorry for her too. She is a conflicting character and a very dark shade of grey.
The Stalkers, Anna Fang and Shrike, are just as awesome and scary as previous books. My new favourite character though is Dr Zero. She was super interesting and intelligent and I look forward to reading what she gets up to in the sequel!
Overall I enjoyed this substantially more than the last one. I'm both excited and nervous to find out how it all ends!
