This was a much more engaging installment than the previous one! It was refreshing to have some new character perspectives, but I also like how it tied in older characters' stories. The pacing was snappy and I feel like the balance between the different perspectives and stories was good. Reeve does have a quirk of being in one character's perspective for the whole chapter, and then having one paragraph from a different character's POV randomly in there--not so much a fan of that, but it didn't detract too much. I also appreciate how he's handled Hester's character. There's a lot that about her that isn't likable, but it's all understandable, and while I don't agree with much of her actions, I'm not frustrated by them like I was in the previous book.

Ngl was surprised there at the big time jump there was with this book. Nonetheless was pleasantly surprised from the development of the book, especially with Hester’s character and how the author decided to go ahead with her. It’s not your typical approach and I love that she’s such a complicated character and contrasts the other ones so much. Also, enjoyed that this series in general is more focused more on adventure and not romance. A needed break from all of the romantasy I’m used to reading most of the time 🤣
I had a harder time getting into this one than the first two, just because Wren was neither easy to like nor compelling (to me). Though I think her personality / characteristics were pretty accurate for a teen growing up in her situation, it didn't make me want to read a whole book about her. Things picked up in the second half when Wren was no longer the only focus and when she started to realize what a brat she had been.

A quick read full of humor and all in the incredibly detailed and imaginative world of traction cities and flying ships. Some aspects of this novel were a little less believable than the previous two, but overall a lot of fun.
