Cradle is starting to get its bearings as a series. This third instalment didn’t take me in directions I was expecting, but as usual was a fun ride.

As the series continues to introduce new characters, Wight does a decent job keeping the focus on our three main heroes.

Overall the books continue to be short and sweet - but more and more the books are feeling less like their own narratives and more like continuations in a larger story.

This series is seriously addictive. It just keeps getting better somehow.

I am pleased that we are
no longer outside of civilisation, and I enjoyed the city from dragon bones idea and setting.
I love Orthos. One thing I will say though, which is still a longstanding grievance I have with this series, is that
Lindon is a bit insufferable because he succeeds ceaselessly. I understand that this is like a microcosm and we are following this guy because he is the chosen one, and I know this is kinda like some kind of book version of the anthropic principle - you'd never write a book about someone who just isn't a main character. BUT it's maddening. Best iron body, fastest progression, most prepared, wins against higher ranks who should demolish him, most creative, inventor of techniques, charming, tall, handsome, smart.... endless list of stand-out qualities and not a single flaw other than being unsouled (quickly overcome in the first book).
Anyway, the read at least is enjoyable and if you don't mind the above mentioned, which I myself have grown used to, then it will certainly be fun to read.

One big training arc (which I'm a sucker for, tbh), which stagnated at times but for the most part was hella hype

Perfect for fans of My Hero Academia. Starts slow but ends high like the previous two. I liked it more as an audiobook than as an ebook, I found the prose style strangely difficult to parse.

Summary:
Lindon accepts Eithan’s direction that the Blackflame path is his best chance of success and he is bonded to a black dragon turtle which has been driven insane from overuse of the path, this bond pushes him to Jade. Lindon and Yarin are put in the 3 black fire trials while the Jai clan sabotages the Aralias clan in the background. When the clan war reaches its peak, Lindon and Yarin are forced into the fight where Yarin finally breaks down her master’s remenant and reaches high gold. Lindon kills a high gold with the help of his bonded turtle Orthas, and a strange water like spirit called Little Blue, in doing so, he reaches low gold. Eithan kills the Jai clan Patriach, showing himself as a real mysterious badass, unfortunately the old man comes back to life without Eithan noticing. Lindon heals Jai Chen, Jai Long’s long crippled sister.
