 I found it hard to take breaks from this book it’s very face paced and intense. It’s a very dark story and the only comparison to Harry Potter that I can pick up is the setting in a wizard school. Maybe.. Harry Potter meets The Hunger Games meets Lord of the Flies.

I loved this book. I am so glad it was the first book that I finished this year. 

Fantastic characters and character development. Good twists. A uniquely terrifying setting in a school. A perfect amount of angst. 

This was *chefs kiss*

Can’t wait for July when the second book in the trilogy(?) comes out

I've never read a book where the primary characteristic of the protagonist is angry. El is constantly furious and for good reason with the school itself trying to kill her. Yet despite always telling herself to only look out for herself...she still does the right thing when push comes to shove.
