Loved this just as much- if not more than the first one. We even enjoyed the way it ended. My daughters and I can’t wait to start the final book.

It’s not often we find a book that hooks us all equally, and that sparks lively conversations mid-chapter.

This book is good fun :). I could be biased due to my nostalgia for this series, but I really enjoyed the second installment in the Wildwood series.
Again, this book is very fun, mostly full of our main characters triversing the strange world of the wood. Colin Meloy does a good job of expanding on concepts presented in the first book without being boring or repeating events from the first book. It's interesting to see Prue and Curtis faced with new challenges regarding Wildwood and it's inhabitants, as well as Elsie and Rachel encountering these woods for the first time.
My only complaint is the pacing. The pacing constantly changes depending on the chapter and page in a way which is often quite jarring, and while it does negatively impact some moments, for the most part it can be looked over .

Just like the first volume, the second book in this series continues to be very VERY wordy. I had a hard time really feeling invested in Rachel and Elsie's chapters until about half way through the book, but I enjoyed it once the action started picking up and their story started tying in to Prue and Curtis. I am still excited to see how the story progresses (ends?) in the next book.

This is a fun YA/children’s series that I’m enjoying as an adult. This book feels like it’s mostly setting up the 3rd book in the series, so the narrative arch wasn’t super satisfying. (It takes them almost 400 pages to make any progress toward their goal.) I’ll still be reading the 3rd book though, and I’m excited to see how the series ends.

i tried to read this book like 2 years ago, but dnf'ed after like 150 pages or so. i picked it back up on audio book and finished it in a day. loved the book, but some parts felt out of pocket. it also ended unresolved for all the characters, as the many protagonist's goals they all had since the middle of the book were left unfinished. overall, it was a great book and i'm gonna re-read the first book now that i'm older and can understand the writing's vocabulary a lot better.
