This gripped me from the beginning. I cried. I laughed. The characters are loveable. This is by far the best dramaticized audio I've ever listened to. I'm reserving a 5-star judgement for after part 2.

The scene with Eo's death destroyed me, and she wasn't even in the book for long. That's such a testament to the writing and character development.

(same review for both parts 1 & 2)•sci-fi fantasy•dystopian•ya-ish•color-coded society•love, rebellion & heroism•Graphic Audio Edition•

I didn’t like the narrator in the original version, which to be fair is really more of a “me” thing since I struggle with accents, so I thought I’d try the GA edition to see if I could gel with it. Unfortunately, they still had Darrow voiced by someone with an accent, so I still struggled.

Despite my issues, I liked this version more. However, I still didn’t really understand what was going on in the second half of the book. Is it some sort of test, and if it is, did he pass? It was entertaining enough, but I didn’t understand its reasoning. Also, does it start to make more sense in the second book? I’m not sure I want to continue with the series.
