Great historical story. Flawed characters who find inner strength in both the past (Alina) and the current (Alice). Interesting twist of Saul marrying Alina and keeping their secret forever.

It took me a good hour to get through the last few chapters because I was crying so hard. I have always loved historical fiction about WWII and this is one of the best I have ever read if not the best! I love books that flip back and forth between time and characters and this was done perfectly. I felt emotionally invested in each and every character. Love love love!

This book was really good. I learned more about Poland during WWII than I knew before. It was heartbreaking, but so good.
