I've come to expect nothing less than dark, luscious, titilating prose from Nicola Rose, the kind that tastes like good quality dark chocolate and makes you swoon with all that's forbidden and not quite healthy - fiction is perfect for getting lost in the less than safe bad boys, and she knows how to write them!
But this book brings a different side to Ms Rose's writing and one that had my heart taking turns and leaps with every single paragraph and chapter. We are taken into the minds of the characters in a deeper way than ever, and become one with their darkest secrets. The character depth in this book is outstanding, as is the way the author plays with the relationships and ties between them. I particularly love the way Leon sees Alice while the reader meets a side of her he seems to refuse to acknowledge - how she too, has a dark side that matches his.
The book is dark, and takes us to places that may trigger some, but it's a worthy read, because if you're going to pick Dark Romance, then it might as well take you to those very places that scare you, and it definetely should tear you apart and rip your heart into shreds. I particularly loved that there isn't a traditional HEA ending, although the MCs find their paths into happiness or contentment in different ways than the norm. It is romance taken to a slighter higher platform, for me, especially because it shows a bond between MCs that goes so far beyond romantic love, it's a matching of souls that are forever bound together, even if not physically.
A definite must read.

Oh My Goodness. I have noooooo idea what to even say about this book. I am at a loss for words.

First, let me warm you it IS Dark. And it's not a traditional HEA ending. But the story was soooooo good! If you love dark, messy, and bittersweet stories then this is the book for you.

Leon has always had and struggled with the darkness inside even as a young boy. He knew one day he would unleash it upon Alice, his forever girl, so he stays in the shadows, always watching, waiting. Stalking. Until one day he is drawn out of the shadows, and into Alice's arms. But even her light can't save him.

Becoming a vampire only heightened his darkness, and pushed him back into the shadows, sending him into his own self-purgatory of hell. Stalking. Being her very own guardian. But what if the one she needs protecting from the most, is Leon himself?

Seriously, this book was so enthralling, having me wanting to read it every spare moment I could, wanting to know how everything played out.

Leon was dark and brooding and broken. He had sadness and darkness locked inside, and I needed to know what made him the way he was, falling for him from the beginning.

Alice was far from perfect, she was flawed but still beautiful. She came into her own, shining despite everything around her.

Leon's and Alice's love was bittersweet. Their story more than just their time together. I loved every second of it. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

And I loved seeing characters from the Elwood Legacy Trilogy again. Although I have to admit it took me too long to realize it
