On the surface this looks like a cross-Iron Curtain friendship story, and it is, and that aspect is really sweet and well-done, but the spy thriller mystery subplot that comes out of absolutely nowhere is if anything even more entertaining.
I love love LOVE how Nesbet heavily implies, but does not actually outright state, that Noah's parents are spies
