super enjoyable! this is a hella long series, but i can see myself getting through them bc they're just fun, basic vampire teen angst. also, i want rose and demitri to get together. also, i'm so interested to learn more about this world bc it's dope. also, this main friendship is so cute.

this was one of my go-to series as a young teen. weirdly, I remembered everything about this series as I was reading this go round. It was still just as much fun.

This was a 3.5* book in my opinion and it's one of the very few books involving Vampires which I have read since Twilight. I must say the the hype of the Twilight books certainly put me off the vampire genre for a while, but this is not like Twilight so I'm happy I have finally begun this series.

This is the story of Vasilisa (or Lissa to her friends) and Rose. Lissa ia a royal Vampire meaning she's one of the Moroi and she has magic. She's the last of the Dragomir line after a tragic accident with the rest of her family and she just wants to be accepted as the heir of her family.
Rose is Lissa's Dhampir and best friend. She wants to become her Guardian and help to protect Lissa from the Strigoi, vampires turned evil, and help her figure out her magic and powers.
Together they face a lot of struggles such as escaping from and evading the attention of the Academy they are supposed to train at, avoiding unwanted attention from nasty peers, and attempting to figure out their bond the whole time too.

I would say that this is a different twist on the Vampire stories I have read before and whilst the first two thirds were more build-up the final third was exciting and certainly made me want to read more. I would day this is a good vampire series and I am intrigued to see how it continues in the later books when I can get them :-). Recommended for YA readers.
