Really challenging to read which made the process kind of grueling but the characters are so good it's worth the fight.

Tasmyn Muir u are a sick freak and a wild genius!!!!! I thought I understood ur world after Gideon and then I spent like 400 pages of Harrow being so fucking confused and wondering if maybe I should return my BA in English. And then of course everything got crazy and started making slightly more sense and I was kicking my feet pacing around my house with excitement. Can’t believe u managed to make each lyctor their own flavor of annoying, brava on that insane dad joke, etc etc. can’t wait to see what the fanfiction overlords have done with this

The locked tomb is great! Devastating and striking characterization, lesbians, doomed lesbians, Ianthe Tridentarius, Lobotomies, saying “what the fuck” for fifty pages straight by the end, the most heart wrenchingly romantic lines being immediately followed by a “I fucked your mom last night” joke.

This is probably one of the best books I’ve ever read. Id rate it a 6/5 if I could.
Tamsyn Muirs writing is so unparalleled and her writing style is just simply fascinating. The humor, the emotions, everyone of Gideon’s stupid jokes and comments, the meaning behind everyone’s names (I mean seriously, “John Gaius”). And god!! seriously the way Muir writes characters is perfect. It’s so impressive to have a book where every nearly every character is likeable in one way or another (even the ancient Lyctors [Augustine my beloved]), and have them all feel like fully fleshed our characters even in such a personality heavy book.

That being said, this was also absolutely the most confusing, weird book I’ve ever read and I enjoyed every single second of it. Reading this felt like being gaslit on every page by every word (affectionately.) And the amount of leftover unanswered questions is just crazy I couldn’t imagine not diving straight into NtN after this.
