The Virility Factor is another example of a great idea that could have evolved into a great book but instead devolved into a hot, weird mess. The notion, that the prevention of a viral outbreak not only renders most men sterile but forces women to take the absolute lead in society, SHOULD have made a great story. Merle did not make a great story. Instead, he made a goofy misogynistic story where people do inexplicable things. The author also had a preoccupation with telling the reader how attractive or unattractive all the characters looked. I have to think this is unusual as I haven't noticed any other author take this tack ever. I would have given it fewer stars, but the wreck was hard to stop watching.
