I really loved this book. The pacing is great, the characters are fleshed out, and have a nice well rounded personality. I always love afrofuturism, and this book delivers. The world building, despite being so short of a novel, is so rich and layered. 

My only complaint with this novel is I wanted a little more between sequences. The author does a great job at giving a ton of world building in a short time but I would have liked to have lingered a little longer and absorb some details more before we move on to the next part of the story. 

A great book overall, and one I will be recommending to my friends!

This was an excellent novella. It is so short, but the world building is so clear and the writing is so vivid. It is a story of prejudice, identity, violence, and unexpected friendships.

it clearly was trying to do something it really didn’t succeed at. suffers from being a novella for sure. and the prose is a bit bland for my tastes, though the story ideas are interesting. i might read on but not right now.

This is very fast read. I got through it in a couple of hours. I really enjoyed the potential in the plot of this novella, but there were some typos that I felt should have been caught during the editing process. Also, after stewing over it for a few days, there are some plot holes and lingering questions the book doesn’t answer. Over all, I’m excited to read the remaining books in the series to see how the author builds upon this initial premise.
