I love this exploration of gender, gendercide, and what-ifs. The illustrations style is occasionally a little too pretty (everyone's so freaking hot!), but overall I love it. :)

The story of Yorick and everyone had been going at a decent pace until this book. It stalled and felt more like filler. Granted I'm happy that Yorick finally had proof that Beth was alive but of course
Spoilershe left to find him
. I also liked seeing Hero and other Beth meet up and the relevation of her condition.

Volume 7 of Y: The last man, kicks off in the Great under, with the gang trying to locate Beth Prime (the fiancée). While back in the States, Hero meets Church Beth who shall hence forth be referred to as Mommy Beth, for obvious reasons.

I really like this pairing with the two badass women out on a road trip, sharing their mutual passions. And personally, rather than Beth Prime, who has 6 volumes in, served no purpose other than being a McGuffin for our protagonist to follow; I much prefer Mommy Beth, who managed to have more chemistry with Yorick during the brief time they spent together.

On the other side of the world, poor little Ampersand, is being held captive by maliciously inhuman conspirators, whose intentions towards him are less than Savoury. To the lovable primate, I want to yell, "Run &, run! Run for your life!"

I enjoyed this volume for the interlude in the plot, the character development, as well as still being engrossed in the beautiful macabre and hopeless world that writer Brian K. Vaughn has managed to craft. Can't wait to read more.

This one gets four stars solely because of its 355 back story.

This one was fun but it was all over the place. I almost felt like Vaughan wasn't sure where he wanted to go next so he did a bunch of flashbacks to stall until he came up with something. There was a transition in the current timeline that left me feeling like a chapter was missing and then all the flashbacks got a little confusing. Hoping for more clarity in the last 3 books.

Didn't really further the story along because it was mostly backstory, but still really cool
