Becky Chamber's books are always so comforting to me. there's something so quite and cozy about them that makes them just feel like a warm hug. I didn't love this one quite as much as the first Wayfarers book, but it still really hit the spot, and I'm very excited to continue the series. Specifically, I  loved how this book grapples with the question of personhood and the difference between what is right and what is allowed.

Sidra having her moment of "I've changed and what I want has changed too" and like. Just really wanting to sit on the floor with her friends is beautiful. The power of the Floor should not be underestimated. And when the chapter POV changes to Pepper instead of Jane? That's good shit right there.

There's just so much hope and emotion in what Becky Chambers writes.

I enjoyed the theme of this book a lot, the stories of the women and how they overlap with both the past and the present. The ideas and issues it brings up as technology advances is very interesting and it ended with that classic Becky Chambers feel good vibes.

Really great story about found-family and figuring out exactly who you are when you were sort of born into an expected role.

I liked this one even more than the first book. I really enjoyed focusing on two characters and Pepper's journey especially. There are some upsetting things that happen to her, but even with that, I found this book to be really comforting and hopeful. And it makes me more excited for the next one in the series.
