Amusing mickey take of nerds (with some truth buried in there too I fear). Love the accompanying classic ladybird illustrations

I smirked, I furrowed a brow, I overall had an alright time. Could I ever ask for more? No.

This is a nerd.

I have really enjoyed a number of the Ladybird books for adults. The Nerd felt an appropriate read for myself as I was sure there would be quite a few situations I could relate to or at least appreciate. And there were definitely some that really made me chuckle, especially the page that simply stated “Someone will probably enjoy this.”

I just felt that with this story, I didn’t enjoy every page as much as I had done with some of the first Ladybird books (e.g. The Mum, The Dad, The Husband and The Wife). Definitely covers a wide range of nerdy habits and hobbies though, so worth it as a present for the nerd in your life.

The least strong Ladybird Book we've read so far. Although we both related to a few of the aspects, the audience for this book is very much the more hardcore nerd - you need to be someone who is a nerd not only when it comes to aspects of pop culture, but also the proper intelligent maths and science kind of nerd too.
