Lila is an author who has just written a top selling novel on how to have a successful marriage; then finds herself divorced … Her mother passed, her stepfather spends so much time at her house that there’s no doubt he’s living there, and Lila appreciates the help with her two daughters and the household, although his meals are less than desirable. Lila’s facing money troubles, dealing with her ex and his new family, issues with her beautiful old house that needs work. The gardener that her stepfather hired, that Lila is trying to pay for, is helpful and sweet, but another person Lila finds part of the “family”. Then her father, Gene, a down on his luck ex-celebrity shows up and needs a place to crash .. “just for a couple of weeks”.
