A solid 3.5

Some chapters were hard to get through as I was losing concentration, but all in all I enjoyed it. The ending annoyed me but oh well.

I became obsessed with the core books in this series in college. Joined a fan forum and everything!

There were a few things about how this was written I didn’t love but I can see why this has been so successful especially when exploring this world more.

I'm a huge Hannibal fan, and it's cool to read the source material that inspired so much of the TV show. This is a really solid thriller with some iconic villains and great lines, particularly from Hannibal himself. I would say if you like the show, don't expect this to live up to the aesthetic, artsy, gay precedent that that version sets, but this is still a good crime novel about FBI profiling with a cast of very familiar characters.

I’m writing this review about 3 months after I finished listening... oops.
Very well written and deserving of its fame. It’s odd to me that the first of the Hannibal books takes place after Hannibal is already locked up. His perspectives are interesting of course, but his own crimes are still in the shadows.
