It's been aging since I read this book and the series. I had a good time. The characters were good, the relationships were decent, the plot was enjoyable, and the writing was alright.

"Your namesake was the beginning, and now you are the continuation. Or the end."

I LOVED this book when it came out over 20 years ago and went into this reread expecting a similar experience to my 11-year-old self. But the book was slower than I remember, and I didn't understand why much of the wandering around was included. But this also means that I don't remember the series as well as I thought I had, which makes me even more excited to continue the reread? Idk. It's very complicated. Despite my mixed bag of reactions to this book, I am full-steam-ahead enthusiastic to read Murtagh after I get through the first four books!!!

I really enjoyed this book, as much on this read as I did the first time. It's fun and adventurous, with just enough drama.
