This is really creative, with great illustrations and a story that is spooky without being too scary. Parents will enjoy the parallels to horror stories, but there's no violence, just suspense and a creepy concept. The book also has a subtle moral lesson about doing your own work and learning to grow, not just to get good grades.

A little creepy (even for a so-titled book) for a picture book. The purple, creepy crayon begins to haunt the main character... at all times. Even after being locked up, broken, melted, and otherwise disposed of. Kind of a creepy book for some kids, but fits the series well.
