Okay, the cover TOTALLY sucked me in lol.
That aside, the Prologue made Ever seem very mysterious and dark but in less than three chapters after meeting Lara, he became a softy. Definitely a tsundere!

It's a sweet read with a HEA, but the curse placed on their family has left Ever and jumped on to his younger brother, Raff.

Raff seemed like the fun brother in every other Romance book, who looks after his brother's significant other and roots for them like us, readers, but a glimpse provided by the author into the next book hints at the darkness consuming Raff, now that Ever followed Laura and their child into the modern world.

Looking forward for the next in the series on Isla and Raff. āœØ

never ever

This book was a great easy read. I very much enjoyed it. It has so many good arcs and the foreshadowing was spot on.

I liked the proseā€”even learned a new word, ā€œlemniscateā€ā€”and the overall vibes are lovely. I was surprised that a book about a cursed prince ended in an HEA without the curse being properly broken, but it certainly gives me a good reason to keep reading the rest of the series. I love a book that can surprise me. The reason for four stars instead of five is that I thought the character development was lacking.

The curse of the Black Blood Prince was sort of ill-defined; the ā€œblack heartā€ was oft mentioned as well as his dangerous nature sort of alluded to, but itā€™s never explained what happened to the brother and father, and we never really get to see what MMC is like without the curse. Heā€™s broody, sure, but so is every other romance MMC, and FMC says all kind of stuff that wouldā€™ve set off a more temperamental man and our MMC barely blinks an eye after the first or second time she does it. He seems to be in a permanent bleak mood that is only cured by FMCā€™s singing.

Speaking of FMC, she really didnā€™t have any character growth, and her incessant chattiness and inability to keep her promises or do what sheā€™s told was not exactly endearing. How does somebody like that manage to work a job in a restaurant without getting herself fired?

The banter between the two characters, the chemistry, was not the best. Sometimes I didnā€™t hate it, but other times I wondered what these people see in each other. They were written as complete opposites, and the L word kinda came out of nowhere.

Spoiler After MMC slept with FMC and then avoided her for days without explanation, and forced her to leave and go back to the human world, I expected a lot more grovel. Especially since he had left the curse with his brother and was free to be his own self again, I hoped we would see how different he was, but the book kinda just glossed over that and FMC being preggers kinda overshadowed it.
