A lovely read about Beth who we see as her life changes over 5 winters and the rest of the year.
Beth looses her parent suddenly and is taken in by an aunt but she always spent lots of time with her best friend and her family. She has always loved Mark, her best friends brother and she felt part of the family but Mark has always appeared to see her as a younger sister.
We move to when Beth is in her mid 30s and she has witnessed Mark's marriage to Grace who is rude and undermines Beth at every turn.
Beth meets Jamie (one of Grace's friend) and moves into his house with him and his 2 daughters but she cannot seem to fit into his life with his girls. Beth wants her own kids but Jamie doesnt.
As they winters move on Mark gets a puppy and Grace does not want this so this leads to Mark finding life more difficult
This story is really about motherhood, grief, found family. friendships, adoption, fertility and love which wins overall in the end.
A lovely story which I really enjoyed and would recommend.

1.5 ⭐️s. Wasn’t the “winter beach read” I was hoping for. But hey, I finished it.
