A 10/10, and, in my opinion, the most timely and important Hunger Games novel to date…Suzanne I beg you NO MORE! This one almost took me out.

Galet bra bok! Även om jag redan visste vad som skulle hända i stora drag utifrån de tidigare Hunger Games böckerna, var den här boken ändå otrolig! 

Boken handlar om Haymitch Abernathy och de 50e Hungerspelen, där det är dubbelt så många deltagare. Tillsammans med sina mentorer - Mags och Wiress, samt Beetee, gör de upp en plan för att sabotera arenan och stoppa Hungerspelen. Men planen går inte som tänkt, Haymitch allierade dör brutalt och han blir vinnaren. President Snow låter honom däremot inte komma undan lätt, då han dödar Haymitch mamma, lillebror och flickvän. Trots misären han lever i har han inget att förlora längre och planerar att någon gång stoppa Hungerspelen för gott.

I really enjoyed reading this, I enjoyed the insight into Hamish’s games and the emphasis on propaganda and how his experiences shaped the character we knew in the original trilogy. 

I thought it was really interesting how the little bit we knew of his games from the original series

was a  heavily edited version created by the capital to be taken out of its original context, essentially rewriting history.

  Very interesting masterful writing. 

 I don’t think I could ever recommend this as an actual literal prequel though, it definitely needs to be read in the order it was written. But phenomenal writing, highly recommend!

This book made me cry

Honestly nostalgia aside this book hits hard if you let it. It forces you to see the charecters as complex, broken, and flawed. You truly get to see how special the OG trilogy was to get the results it did. 
It also hits hard in the context of everything going on and honestly makes me feel guilty of how little I'm doing.
