This book was a slog to get through. Despite it being about Haymitch's games, only about a third of the book actually takes place during the games, and a large majority of it was pretty boring. Almost everything that happens in this book happened in previous books, which makes it a yawn-fest. Haymitch is incredibly dull and stupid, making very poor decisions and needing other people to tell him what to do. All the social commentary is so heavy-handed and transparent that it feels like Collins thinks her readers are stupid. The only part that I really liked was the last 15% or so; basically everything that happened after the games ended. Honestly, I'm not sure what the point of this book was outside of Collins just wanting to make more money off her IP. This one felt pretty unnecessary and doesn't add anything to the overall narrative.
