I've been trying to read this on and off for the last few years, but I never made it past the 20% mark. I didn't understand why I was having difficulty reading this when it's gotten such great reviews. It made me wonder why everyone loved this book while I continuously gave up on it. That's why I decided to finally plow through the book and find out. Maybe something was happening after that 20% mark that was garnering such rave reviews. So after years of numerous attempts, I sat down and finally finished reading this. And then.....nothing. I have no idea how I feel about this. I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it either. It left me feeling kinda indifferent about the whole thing. Feels sort of anticlimactic. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nevertheless, I'll try my best to finish the series and maybe I'll change my mind.

Ella’s 'Temptation' series was one of my first bi-awake stories and a turning point in my reading journey. ‘Try’, immediately followed by the other 5 books in the series, solidified my love for MM couples and I haven't looked back ever since. I devoured the entire series in less than 2 weeks, barely sleeping. After hundreds of MM books, Tate and Logan are still one of my most cherished couples. Their chemistry is through the roof, and their love story is an epic one that I keep encouraging everyone to read.
If you don’t like cocky, alpha males perhaps Try isn’t for you. I know Logan’s personality might not be for everyone, but I love my MCs strong-willed. Both Tate and Logan are incredibly sexy, self-assured, and so darn stubborn, they give as good as they get. Logan (who is definitely the master of sexual innuendoes and pure seduction) has never met a challenge he couldn’t win, whether it’s a male or female … and to his biggest annoyance, Tate is really good at saying no. At the end of a nasty divorce, Tate has no need to complicate his life with getting involved with a man, for the first time in his life. But for some unknown reason, Logan just cannot let go, Tate ignites a desire in him that he never experienced before. Tate is also drawn to the hot lawyer but is wary of what all his new feelings mean. THE SEXUAL TENSION in this book is unreal! It is rare to feel it so strong and Ella perfectly conveyed that. The push and pull in their interactions and conversations is relentless, their scenes leave you breathless and panting for more, they are absolutely scorching hot together. Though if you look past all the physical needs, you realize both Logan and Tate are looking for something deeper, something more that neither of them has ever found in their lives. The more you get to know them (especially in the following books), the more you realize how amazing these two men are, their love and devotion to each other is something extremely rare! (This book ends with HFN.)

Hot damn this is intense!!!

Talk about an abrupt teasing cliffhanger! I guarantee Tate ended it there on purpose! At first my brain got angry at Logan for the pause but then the ending info for the audiobook sounded and I wanted to scream. Given that my hubs is sound asleep next to me and its 11:38 PM, I refrained but barely! Once I processed the evilness of that ending, I realized Tate must be at fault. Being a cock tease, he clearly set us up! (Or Ella Frank is a sadist! Not sure which!) Can I say, HOT DAMN these two had me gasping , grunting, and turning to my hubs for attention! (I know TMI but trust me when I say you need to be prepared!) Try is all kinds of erotic tension, lust, and I dare say feels! Tate is exactly the kind of person I like, probably because I'm Logan to a T. The chemistry between these two is insanely explosive. Hot lava feels like AC when these two grapple. Fanning oneself is a necessity. Also to avoid uncomfortable situations, do not listen to this on your way to work! Trust me! Wet panties first thing in the morning is awkward! There's also trying to explain to coworkers why the volume setting on your vehicle is so high that they can here sex scenes across the parking lot. Which might not have been so awkward if they weren't straight guys confused about a "lady listening to gay porn!" Lol. Water cooler talk will be awkward for awhile but only until I finish book 2 and can tell them what happened! Wish me luck! I need answers on Tate and Logan can give me!

There are six books in this series, averaging 330 pages per book. None of the books seem to have any plot aside from the romance (sex). And yet, all the books have stellar ratings and higher amounts of reads than similar books. I was curious, and the audiobooks are free on kindle unlimited, so I listened.

I laughed for a little while. Then I cringed for a bit. Then I struggled to pay any attention at all. I was right: this book has no plot, but it also gives you no reason to care about these people at all. The chapters should be renamed to "Part 1: sexual harassment" and "Part 2: inappropriate workplace behaviour" JFC. I hated this. I hate that it has the gall to end on a bit of a cliffhanger. I hate these people. I hate that there are like 10 named characters. I hate that this book is so popular; it's so mediocre even for what it is. UGH

I did like the "Terrify me." line. Those were the only two good words in 353 pages.

So glad I gave this a TRY!

Every moment of this book was a delight for me. I loved the dynamics of Logan's relationship with Tate. I loved how masculine both characters were and how at no point in time I felt they fell into any kind of stereotyped personas that are so commonly shown in queer fiction today. There was real passion between them that was genuinely a delight to experience.

I can't say that I was surprised by the writing quality because I already knew that Ella Frank was a great writer. I'd gone into reading this one expecting at least a 3 if not a 4 for sheer technique, but this book? This book is a 5 because it never stops being amazing from page one to the very last page where things don't wind up absolutely-perfect-HEA-forever-and-ever-amen, but they do end on a perfect-for-these-people-in-this-moment note which I appreciated so much more.

Life isn't always a perfect ending. Life often has stories whose endings are confusing, often scary, and sometimes outright cruel.

This book deals a lot with the consequences of giving a homosexual relationship a chance along with showcasing that there's no such thing as "trying" to love someone.

Sometimes love does transcend every barrier.

This book brings that to the forefront of the reader's mind as it proves over and over again that it's possible to love someone even if you don't want to and possible to want someone even if you don't love them.

I loved it. I think it's a great, fantastic, phenomenal read and I am very glad to say that it was my first read completed in 2014.

Thanks for letting me "Try" with you, Ella Frank. You're amazing.

This was pretty much a complete departure from what I normally read, however I still enjoyed it. Yes, there were several things I didn't like, or enjoy as much, but overall I enjoyed the story line and the characters.

I loved Tate, but had some annoyances with Logan. And I can't say that I really loved any of the side characters at all. I think I would like Rachael, but you honestly, don't really get to know her.

Also, there were a LOT of sexy times in this book. Graphic sexy times, which normally don't bother me, but there were a LOT in here.

Will I continue? Well, I own the 2nd book, so I will probably read it at some point, and hopefully it's even better!

Good ol' smut but way too many unanswered questions and the characters just ignoring the huge problem so they can have sex really irked me. Like... Bro your world about to blow up. Deal with that shit first and THEN get your rocks off, lol. Not sure I'm going to read the rest of the series but it was my cup of tea  for most of the book.
