Usually, when it's after work and I have to start a new book, I read a few chapters and then I'm like: Tomorrow is another day. So, I was planning on starting this book after work, just to get a feel for the story and to hopefully be eager to read more tomorrow morning. And then all of a sudden it was about three hours later and I finished the entire book. In one sitting. I made dinner in between in the airfryer, I went to the toilet once with my iPad so I could keep on reading and I just couldn't stop anymore.

This story is quite addictive from start to finish and that's mostly because our heroine is such an amazing and entertaining character. She basically has no filter, for reasons explained in the book she has the urge to run headfirst into danger, she doesn't shut her mouth when she's in front of vampires or werewolves and she doesn't let a guy manipulate or control her. It also means that she escapes death quite often in this book, but in this case it really fitted her, who she is and what she is.

On top of that I was quite surprised that there were quite a few female bonding scenes in this book too! Quite often in reverse harems friendships with girls are mentioned but not really shown, this book however does show the blossoming female friendships. I really enjoyed the dynamic between these three ladies, partly because the vampire girls were quite interesting and both really different characters, but also because it showed so much about vampire culture.

Because despite the fact that the plot of this book was quite thin, and that the three guys and our main heroine were building up the sexual tension and took their sweet time unloading it, I really enjoyed getting to know the vampire world, their customs, their weaknesses, their world, the way they live their lives. I was quite impressed with the amount of detail and with how much thought went into crafting this little part of the world.

And that ending! I really can't wait for the next book!

Vampires, werewolves, and humans - oh my!

Blood Owed definitely flew by for me. Ever since I met Demi, I just knew that she wasn't going to disappoint. She had one hell of a backbone and didn't let anyone control her. Especially when it came to the supes in her world. She didn't take anyone's shit and she was going to raise hell no matter what.

So it's safe to say that when she winds up being kidnapped by some hot vampires - Grayson, Colt, and Mateo - well, her life just wasn't going to be the same anymore. Now I definitely have so many questions when it comes to Demi's background. Mostly because she didn't really know what she was until almost the end of the book.

I would also like to see more happening between her and the vampires because the teasing moments need to go. I just want more romance and smutty things to be happening in the near future. Especially after the little crumbs I got towards the end of the book. Just when I got something.. I was cockblocked by a stabbing. Ugh!

In the end, Demi is just chaotic and I love it. I'm definitely diving into the next book stat because I need all the answers and romance.

Ages: She’s 24 and they’re vampires (3 of them). Multi POV. She is VERY stabby- it’s fantastic. Also, I love that we finally get a girly who likes to read and uses that knowledge to realize something is going on rather than most who usually stay confused (though she doesn’t know exactly what is going on). And what an ending. Warning: this book may make you want pasta (it made me order some for dinner).

Amazing!! Off to the next I go

WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH!!!!!!

That cliffhanger!!!!!! Demi is probably my new favorite heroine. What a freaking opening to this series!

-RH
-Supernatural
-mafia
-multi POV
-cliffhanger

Demi is a human who accidentally walks into a turf war between the vampire mafia and the wolves. When she protects herself by killing a wolf enforcer, but the vampires and the wolves want her. But Demi puts up a fight for sure, before she’s finally captured by the Blood Mafia. While there, we see the Mafia leader, and his top two guys start developing feelings for her. She struggles with her sexual attraction to them, but she doesn’t give in so easily. Forgive and forget is NOT Demi’s style and I need the next book like NOW. We learn who Demi really is, but she is supposedly kept in the dark, but with that cliffhanger.. I’m anxious to see if she was ever really in the dark at all

I really didn’t engage with this. It started off promising with a human who reacts with anger and sass, which was the best bit for me. However, it was mainly just a long stream of misogyny and I didn’t find much to enjoy in it. I think it was the mafia romance side of things - really not my bag. Any meaningful plot disappears halfway through too.

I really enjoyed this book. I love a good vampire story and this was pretty good. I loved Demi and how strong and badass she was. I love that even though she knew she could die she still fought the wolves and the vampires. I liked Grayson and how kind he was to Demi and how he actually cared about her. I hated how Mateo treated her like a slave at first but in glad he finally started taking to her about what she was. I like that she makes two friends while she's there. I didn't expect the ending at all and it ended in a cliffhanger. I'm definitely going to have to read the next one. 10 stars!

Dear god, this has to be the most boring book I have read this year. I would have DNFed this so hard if it was not for the fact that it hit a few of the Halloween bingo squares, so I am giving it an honourary mention in the DNF category. The last 75% of the book I was just cringing at how bad it was.

Annoying MC but to be fair there is a warning at the start of the book.
I like the premise of the book, the male MCs are great. Just not the female MC.
Overall this book feels.. flat. No deep story, no character development, the relationship between the characters seems to be based on physical attraction and weird obsession.
There are plot points completely forgotten or just added to fill pages?

3* because it's an easy fast read. Interesting world and I wish there was more to it.

“Not like other girls” in the worst way
