This was the perfect read to start off September! It started out slow, with the drama between Nickie, Jeremy and our FMC Remi. Jeremy I feel just tries to keep the peace between the two girls, but Nickie rubs me the wrong way. I don't feel like she's a good friend and it made me feel so bad for Remi.
I loved the demon-hunting secret society! Also all of the other trainees. I can see them all becoming the most amazing found family🖤 Once the plot started to pick up, it really took off for me and I finished the it in one sitting 😅
I love Josh & Remi together! They're the definition of forbidden love, destined for ruin. It hurts my heart but in the best way possible lol. I'm still on the fence about Kal. I'm not sure where he really fits in. Is he just a love sick guy crushing on Remi or does he have some other kind of motive?
I can't wait to see how Remi takes that bomb Father dropped at the end. I have so many theories on what could happen in book 2 after the two massive ass cliffhangers the author left me on. I'm literally hanging on for dear life over here 😂
Definitely recommend this to anyone who binge watches Supernatural, or loves secret assassin societies 😍

Deck of Scarlets is a dark, urban fantasy that takes place in NYC. 18 year old Remi is a college Freshman at Columbia University. Remi gets an invitation to join the Order of the Scarlet Quill, a secret society on campus that hunts demons.
Throughout the book, we follow Remi as she struggles navigate her new life, uncover secrets, and learn about paranormal beings walking alongside her.
I really enjoyed reading Deck of Scarlets! It’s fast paced and has great plot and character development. I loved the slowwwww burn between the FMC and MMC, and can’t wait to see where it goes in the next book!

Oh my God! This book was SO good. The dream the Remi had before attending college was hinting at a future that could end everything. I loved the characters, the plot, and I can't wait for the rest of the series! I'm also excited to see what happens with the order of the Scarlett Quill!

I enjoyed the basics of the story line but it moved very quickly — I almost wish it had been longer to really give more developmental time to these characters. I enjoyed it, I would maybe read #2 but this wasn’t a 10/10 for me.
